Schonell Theatre for TWTh Lectures

So it looks like we’re getting moved to another lecture hall for Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday lectures. Good news for those getting off at UQ Lakes. 8 am lectures are now a short distance away from the bus! Doesn’t hurt that the Boggo Road Busway is opening up on August 3. Check my post on the new busway routes and what they’ll mean for us.

Med Revue Writers!

Eager to read each others’ work? Want to show your own off? Need some help to finish things up? Come along to the next Med Revue writer’s meeting: Thursday, April 16, 6:30pm in room 34 at Herston. We’ll be workshopping ideas, reading scripts and positively oozing creativity.

Don’t forget that you can email us your scripts anytime before April 10 to medrev09@gmail.com. We’ll read them, make notes on things that need polishing, and send them back to you for final changes. Hard deadlines for all stage scripts to be finished, polished and submitted is April 29.

For those potential writers that missed previous meetings, this is also a great chance for you to get invovled. If you’ve got something you’d like to contribute to the Revue, don’t think it’s too late. Come along and bring your ideas!
Looking forward to seeing you all,

Alex, Josh and Sam

Teddy Bear Hospital – Recruiting!

It’s about de-stigmatising a trip to the doctor, promoting good health and safety around water, the sun, burns and cars! We use teddy bears as “patients” and your awesome communication skills as “doctors” when we travel to primary schools around Brisbane to educate prep and primary school kids about staying healthy!

We need YOU – whether you have a great way with kids or are wanting to improve your paeds skills, we are here to assist! No experience necessary, just enthusiasm and a love for kids!

Sign up for Thursday 9th April for the am or pm session or Thursdays thereafter! Email admin@uqms.org to book your session or for more details!

Students only need to bring a steth and do some very light prereading before attending. Students also receive a certificate of participation after completion!

Do the Surveys

We get sent out surveys every now and then to fill out:

  • Usually there is a 45% repsonse rate
  • Our year has a 20% response rate + we don’t fill them out properly = NOT GOOD for our year’s reputation

Pease try to fill these out. They only take a few minutes and it’s helpful for the school.

Thanks!

PBL noise

Hey everyone,

Along the same lines as with the noise in lecture.

Please be considerate of those trying to work in their PBL rooms

I have had many students come find refuge in my PBL room cos their’s were way too noisy

Just look out for that as well.

1st Ochsner Meeting

Hi everyone,

Prof Peter Jones and I would like to invite you to attend an Year 1 Ochsner co-hort meet and greet next Wednesday at 4.30pm in Room 409 (level 4) of Building 69 at the St Lucia campus. This will just be a informal session so Peter and I can meet with you and see how everything is going.
We would really like for you and your colleagues to lead discussions and let us know what issues you have found or what you concerns may be. We would also like to schedule some other sessions during the year and talk about social aspects as well as academic. Don’t worry if you can’t make it at 4.30 on the dot, there will be no structure or agenda, just a chance to have a chat. I am hoping to get us some pizzas or other snacks to munch on while we’re there.

Peter will also be speaking at the UQMS International Information Session on Tuesday 7 April.

Hope you can all make it.
